Comparing Off-Site and On-Site Shredding

“Would you rather?” has become a popular conversational game among both kids and adults. The popularity of it is that there is no obvious answer or correct choice because your answer is dependent on a lot of personal variables and will be different for everyone. Answering “neither” or “both” is against the rules. So, as you are comparing on-site and off-site shredding for your company, you’re really just involved in a real-life game of, “Would you rather?”

Would you rather…have off-site or on-site shredding?

Off-site shredding involves your documents being collected at your business and transported to a shredding plant. Your documents are collected with other documents and shredded later in a secure facility. Less time is spent at your facility, and this service typically costs less than on-site shredding.

On-site shredding, also called mobile shredding, involves your documents being shredded at your location in an industrial-grade mobile shredding truck. Documents are shredded immediately. This service typically costs more than off-site shredding.

Would you rather…witness the shredding or have it done later?

Whether it’s done off-site or on-site, shredding should always be done by trained, background-screened and bonded shredding technicians within a secure chain of custody. You can request a Certificate of Destruction for either type of shredding.

When a mobile shredding truck completes the shredding process at your facility, you can witness the shredding process, and your documents are destroyed before they leave your premises.

The off-site shredding process involves transporting your documents in a secure vehicle to a shredding plant where your documents are stored securely until shredding takes place.

Would you rather…not know whether your information is secure or sleep well at night?

Whether you have on-site shredding or off-site shredding, both should meet the following criteria:
